Mohalla clinics in Delhi

Health care is a basic human right and it is the duty of every government to provide it. In India due to inadequate infrastructure and facilities in government hospitals and clinics people are forced to go to private hospitals and clinics. People are in general forced to pay the high fees of the doctors this way. We know very well that as compared to other developed nations only a small fraction of India's budget goes to health care and this year the allocation has come down instead of going up. Add to that due to corruption a big percentage of the money allocated to health care gets stolen.

However the AAP government in Delhi instead of decreasing the health care budged has almost doubled the budget. The conditions of government hospitals are being improved and private hospitals that does not take in poor patients under the EWS quota have been fined around 203 cr Indian rupees.

The Delhi government has already opened one Mohalla clinic, that treats 300 patients a day. The government has now decided that it will open 1000 such Mohalla clinics in the next 6 months, an allocation of Rs 209 crores has been made for this. The Mohalla clinics give free treatment to patients.

If each Mohalla clinics give 300 free treatments a day then the 1000 clinics can given 300,000 free treatments each day. Thus annually it can give 300000X365 = 109500000 free treatments each year. That is 10 crore 95 lakh free treatments. For international readers the number is 109.5 million free treatments each year.

This shows that if intentions are clean then excellent work for people can be easily done by the ruling government. Hats off to Arvind Kejriwal and his government.

Commando Surinder Singh

The Aam Aadmi Party fielded some of the best candidates in the Delhi Vidhansabha Elections. One of them was Commando Surinder Singh. Commando Surinder fought in the Kargil War. Again during the Mumbai terrorist attack, Surinder was the part of the NSA team that entered the TAJ hotel and killed the terrorists. In that process he was wounded. He completely lost his ability to hear and had to be retired from the NSG.

After retirement for 19 months this physically disabled man had to run pillar to post for his pension, that he deserved. He met all the political leaders and ministers of the time, but his pension was not restored. Finally he went to the newly formed Aam Aadmi Party where they helped in getting his pension. He joined AAP and was fielded as a candidate from Delhi Cantonment during the Delhi Vidhansabha elections of December 2013 and February 2015. Both the times he won the elections.

The central government is trying to prove that his degree is fake. Delhi Police arrested him for allegedly beating up an NDMC employee. The Delhi High Court granted him bail within 24 hours and has said that the Delhi police seems to be acting under a political vendetta.

Here is video link that has views of Commando Surinder Singh.

Voting Correct and its benifits

Question : Why do you vote?

Ans: So that you can elect a person who would do good work for you and your state or country.

Question : Why your vote is important?

Ans : Your vote is important, very important, since you want a correct person to be in charge of your ward, your constituency, your state and your country. If this post goes into the hands of a wrong person, he would exploit it to his/her own advantage.

Question : Why most Indians vote for corrupt and selfish people?

Ans : The reason is most Indians including educated urban people don't understand the value of their vote. They go too much by the hype generated by the media without verifying the facts about the contestants. There are people who vote on the basis of the cast and religion of the candidate, instead of his competence, integrity and character.

Question : What is the outcome of voting for corrupt and selfish candidates having a criminal background?

Ans : The outcome is this candidates when they become ministers swindle the money that is meant for development. Most of India has this problem hence India is found wanting in terms of healthcare, education, cleanliness and development. The population grows exponentially. Millions of Indians live in abject povery because of this. Government figures show that there are 194 million people who don't get two square meals a day. The actual number maybe much higher.

India is lagging behind countries like South Korea, Israel, Singapore and many others the achieved freedom after India did but outpaced India in the development game. They just had better leaders elected by people.

Question : What is the way out ?

Ans : A good start has already been made by the AAP government in Delhi. AAP was born out of the IAC movement and it is headed by Arvind Kejriwal the Delhi Chief Minister. AAP is doing very good work in Delhi and it shows how much we lost because of being ruled by corrupt leaders.

The Indian voter has to become more aware, the vote that he casts maybe simply a push of the button, but it has tremendous value, it can change lives. Take the Delhi government for example. It reduced the electricity prices to half and made water free after coming to power. A CAG audit of power distribution companies was ordered and the audit report has made it clear that the discoms inflated the power bills by over Rs 8000 crore.Delhi government will no longer have to give power subsidy to maintain the current price of power. On the other hand this CAG report will enable Delhi government to get back the Rs 8000 cr + interest from the discoms and it can be given back to the people of Delhi.

Delhi government is working well in spite of the roadblocks that are created by the Lieutenant Governor. Also the unruly sub standard Delhi police is not under its control , it reports to the central government and it is largely responsible for the bad law and order situation of Delhi.

The Delhi government has come out with a scheme of giving Rs 10 lakh bank loan to every student who clears class 12 and gets admission in a  collage, Delhi government acts as the guarantor of the loan.

The Delhi Government will open 1000 Moholla clinics , the first one is already operational.

There are many more such initiatives mentioning them will make this blog post very very long.

Also just yesterday an announcement was made that the Delhi Government will rehabilitate 50,000 odd children living in the streets of Delhi. There is not a single state not a single city in India where you don't find children living on the streets. This is first time a state government has decided to take matters into their own hands and change the lives of this kids.

I hope AAP succeeds in its mission. I hope the people of the nation become more aware and not get fooled by the paid news channels.

Voting Thoughtfully

In India it is very common to see the sites of people contesting polls, going door to door and asking people to vote for them with folded hands. Money is spent like water during this time. Various kinds of gifts are given to voters from poorer sections of the society. It can be a Rs 100 or a Rs 500 note, a bottle of liquor, a saree or a box of biriyani. The election commission has a fixed amount that each contestant can spend in a particular constituency, but invariably this amount is crossed by the contestants many times over in an effort to gain power.

Now once a particular contestant wins normally people don't get to see him for the next four and half years. The reason his target is achieved now he/she will recover the investments that he made during the elections through various dubious means. While a MP or a MLA is elected to represent his own constituency in the Parliament or Assembly. They hardly bother about doing any development work in their constituency. Whatever development work that is being done will invariably have some financial motive associated with it like getting a percentage from the project.

The big problem is people vote on the basis of the promises and gifts given by the contestants rather than judging him/her on the basis of his character and past work. Again in India there is no Right to Recall any MP or MLA so the people have to suffer for the next 5 years after electing the candidate.

So this makes it clear that it is important that people vote on the basis of character and past works of a candidate. The candidate must be honest and a man/woman of integrity. Another point is in case a wrong candidate is chosen by the people they must have the power to recall him/her, this is the basis of Right to Recall.

Before the formation of Aam Aadmi Party. The major demands of India Against Corruption were :

  1. Janlokpal
  2. Right to Reject.
  3. Right to Recall.
While Aam Aadmi Party has been able to give an honest alternative to Delhi. The Delhi Janlokpal bill is yet to be passed. The draft is probably sent to the Centre for approval.

The Right to Reject and the Right to Recall bill has to be passed by the central government. However the kind of government that we have in the centre, it is very unlikely that the bills are going to be passed in the next four years. We must remember that Modi has come to power after spending money in advertisements like flowing water. Even an idiot will tell you that the amount of money that was spent should have surpassed the limits set by the Election Commission many times over. So its obvious his governments intentions now is get the most advantage of being in power.

The state government of Delhi came to power on the basis of a transparent funding system and at a small budget of about Rs 20 cr, well inside the limits set by the election commission. The awareness spread by the AAP volunteer during Delhi state elections resulted in people accepting the gifts from other parties, but the ended up voting for AAP, since they now knew that other parties will simply rob them.

The state of Delhi is now reaping in the advantage of voting for a honest party, AAP is working well despite of the hurdles set by the Centre through the Lieutenet Governer of Delhi.

A Salute to the Selfless AAP Volunteers

The success of AAM AADMI PARTY within 2 years of its inception as a political party is due to the hard work of thousands of volunteers. The IAC movement brought together millions of people across India, all of them were unanimously demanding a strong Janlokpal Bill to be passed that would check corruption in the country. The benefits of growth has not reached the masses owing to corruption.

After a string of hunger strikes it was felt that in order to achieve the target it was imperative for the anti-corruption activists to go to the parliament themselves. So on 26th  November 2012, the Aam Aadmi Party was born. IAC has most volunteers from the state of Delhi, so AAP decided to start with Delhi. Arvind Kejriwal exposed the various wrongdoings of the then Delhi Government and also the centre and other state governments through a series of press conferences.

Other political parties generate funds through dubious means, but AAP decided to give account of each and every rupee that was donated by the people. In India no political party has to declare any donation that's below Rs 20,000. So a series of bogus donations of amounts less than Rs 20,000 are made to the political parties, most of this money is black money.

AAP had a fraction of the amount of money that other political parties had, but what it did have was a battery of selfless volunteers who went door to door campaigning for the party , made calls after calls to the people of Delhi and wrote wall posts , blogs and campaigned for AAP online. They were not paid a single penny for their efforts. Most of the time they themselves spent money from their own pocket to campaign for AAP.

During the Delhi elections campaign it was common to see the sight of  youngsters standing on the road holding a banner of AAP besides giant cut outs and posters of BJP and Congress which cost a few lakhs. While BJP had pockets deep enough to give page length advertisements on all major newspapers published in Delhi, even on election day , against the rules. It was the clean intent of the AAP candidates and the immense selflessness and passion of AAP volunteers from across the nation that saw AAP sweeping Delhi, getting 67 seats out of 70 seatswith a mere 3 seats going to the BJP.

The selflessness levels of AAP volunteers can be gauged from the fact that many of them left their jobs , took sabbaticals , shut their shops to campaign for AAP. They did it without any self interest , there were people from other parts of the nation who visited Delhi to campaign for AAP. The only thing they had was fire in their belly and a deep love for their motherland whom they wanted to free from the devil of corruption.

Thinking about the sacrifices that AAP volunteers had made in run up to the Delhi elections at times brings tears to the eyes. Some of them were even beaten up and booked under false cases by the police that is under the central BJP government , but at the end of the day the passion of the volunteers won. This unselfish passion will change the nation.

Hat's off to all the AAP volunteers.

Democracy and Ballot

In a democracy citizens are empowered with the tool of vote. The vote you cast to select your representative is very vital. While a good leader with clean intentions can change lives of people. A bad leader who is selfish and corrupt can destroy the lives of millions. So a citizen of a democratic nation must exercise his right to vote with extreme caution and not go by rhetoric.

Unfortunately in India and in many countries of South Asia the fact is people do get carried away by speeches and most of them time and again end up voting for people who are simply making a fool of them. The bad leaders of South Asia have made life hell for the people in this part of the world, and who is responsible for electing them , you the voter.

In India we have criminals with tainted lives , gory criminal records , people who are under trail for committing murders and rapes, frauds etc who are today MLA's and MP's in almost all states except the state of Delhi, where we have the AAP government and most of its ministers are clean , only  MLA Jitender Tomar is now undergoing trail for producing fake BSc and law degrees.

In India the difference between other states , centre and Delhi can clearly be seen. While people feel cheated by the central government that promised the sky during the elections but has hardly done any good work in its tenure till now, on the other hand, most people in Delhi are happy with the Arvind Kejriwal's government that has delivered what it promised.

The data of corruption done by the the MPs and MLAs is so vast that books after books can be written about it. The AAP government that came out of an anti corruption movement is changing the rules of the game as its popularity grows around the country.

While corruption plagues most parts of India , the government officials in Delhi are now scared of taking bribes. While health and education budgets of central government has gone down by 15% and 16% respectively. AAP's Delhi Government has increased the health and education budget by a cool 45% and 106% respectively.

AAP's path is not easy. The central government is trying every bit to thwart the work done by AAP government. The Lt. government of Delhi is acting on their direction and getting in the way of every development work done in Delhi. Delhi is one of the most polluted cities in the world. A major part of its pollution is because of vehicular pollution although Delhi has a excellent metro service .

One way of tackling this situation is encourage more people to take public transport. The bus transport infrastructure is not good. The Delhi Government plans to buy 10,000buses to boost Delhi's public transport. However to station this buses a vast bus terminus is needed. The DDA which is currently under LG is asking for Rs 4cr per acre for the land to be given to the Delhi government. This land belongs to the people, DDA is its mere custodian , so it is improper for them to charge Rs 4cr per acre for a bus terminus.

If the LG wanted he could have intervened and made the land allocation free , however he didn't. For he is not interested at all in people's welfare. The LG is doing lots of other things to someway somehow stop AAP's work. The history of the nation will never forgive him for this.

The AAP government in Delhi is a government with an intent of serving the nation honestly, that is why it got such a huge public mandate. The popularity and love for AAP has gone up even after the elections in Delhi.

The vote you cast is very important , thoughtfully done by the masses it can bring happiness and prosperity. When done stupidly it brings misery. Wake up, vote for correct, vote for the honest, vote for the one who has clean intentions of serving the nation.

Delhi Budget - Aam Aadmi's Budget

The Karma theory says that what you do comes back to you. Delhiites did wonderful Karma by voting for AAP and they are now reaping the benefits of their action. Already they have the benefits of free water and electricity at half the rates.

Now most of the govt officials in Delhi are scared to ask for bribes. The Inspector Raj and Raid Raj of government officials have come down. The direct tax collection in Delhi has gone up by 38%, people are happy paying taxes over there because they know that the money would be used for their own benefit. Delhi Government has set up a committee to review unnecessary licences that are required for businesses so that doing business in Delhi becomes easier.

Today Manish Sisodia the deputy chief minister of Delhi presented the budget and the two biggest features of this budget are focus on health care and education. The allocation for health care has gone up by 45% and the budgetary allocation for education has gone up by 106%, whereas in the central government's budget  the allocation for education has gone down by 16% and the allocation for health care has gone down by 15%, in spite of the fact that education and health care needs lot of budgetary support in India.

Here is the Delhi Budget in brief:-

  • Free Wi-Fi in all collages.
  • Free Wi-Fi in all rural areas
  • A Swaraj Fund of 2.53 billion rupees set up.
  • The money from Swaraj fund would be spent on the basis of wishes of people.
  • A contractor would be paid if people are happy with his work.
  • 5908 crore rupees (Rs59.08 billion)set aside for MCD(Municipal Corporations of Delhi)
  • Steps will be taken for ensuring that doing business in Delhi becomes easier.
  • A committee set up to determine which licences are necessary and which ones are unnecessary. Unnecessary licenses would be done away with.
  • An e-district service started for certificates.
  • Education budget would be Rs 9836cr (106% more)
  • Target of achieving 100% literacy in 2years in Delhi.
  • 20,000 new teachers will be recruited.
  • 236 new schools will be started.

Congratulations to all Delhiites and
well done by voting for AAP you have made the future of your kids better. Hopefully nation learns from you.

Education Loan by AAP Government vs Crony Corporate doles of Central Government

The AAP government in Delhi has taken an excellent decision  that students of Delhi who pass out class 12 and get admission in a collage can avail a loan of up to Rs 10 lakh without any collateral , Delhi Government will act as the guarantor. After passing out of collage and after getting a job the student can payback the loan in 10 to 15 years. This would be particularly helpful to the students who are from economically weaker backgrounds.

There are many intelligent and bright students who are not able to pursue higher education for want of money. This move of the Delhi government will ensure that if the student has the potential then he/she can study the subject of his/her choice. Even a poor man's son or daughter can now become a doctor, scientist or engineer if he is meritorious enough.

The central government is happy giving soft loans to neighbouring countries and subsidies to crony corporates. However the Delhi Government has taken a pro people decision that would benefit the people , in this case youngsters.

This is what we want a pro people government than a pro crony corporate government. This also shows the difference between the Kejriwal government and Modi government. Kejriwal fought the election on white money given by Indians . While Modi fought elections with money whose sources are unknown, he spent thousands of crores in his election campaigns.

Now he is paying back the people who provided him this thousands of crores by giving the subsidies, soft loans etc to a certain section of the corporate world. People who can be tagged as crony corporates .

People who still expect the proverbial acche din as promised by the Modi Government will be left in lurch. It must now be clear that everyone who voted for Modi is a a fool, who has been looted shamelessly by this government.

Anyone who has voted for Modi or BJP , even those who have voted for Congress , have done a great disservice to the nation. In Lok Sabha elections you had the opportunity to vote for AAP but you didn't , now it is time for you to face the music.

AAP'S Delhi Dialogue for Youth

AAP unveils its agenda for the youth & students of Delhi
·         Student loan for college going students will be easy and hassle free
·         20 new colleges will be opened in outer Delhi
·         55,000 job vacancies in Delhi government, boards and corporations to be immediately filled-up
·         Degree, Income, WiFi. Aam Aadmi Party Laayi
·         Delhi will be a drug-free national capital
Delhi Dialogue launched its first round of public meetings on Saturday afternoon (November 15 2014), at the historic Jantar Mantar, where the youth of Delhi were brimming with ideas and confidence for the conference followed by an evening of musical concert.
This conference focused on issues related to youth, which were broadly divided into sectors/focus areas such as jobs, employment, skills, sports, culture, art and technology.

Over the past two weeks, the Aam Aadmi Party’s Delhi Dialogue team led by Ashish Khetan, Meera Sanyal and Adarsh Shastri met with stakeholders on these issues ranging from bureaucrats, government employees and elected representatives, businesses, non-profits, journalists and other interesting persons with expertise.
They also engaged with several student groups and leadership organizations, along with youth brigades. Based on these roundtables, the AAP has developed a 5-point agenda plan that was unveiled for the youth at this event. However, this list is not set in stone and is open to amendments, revision and discussion.
At the event, elaborate talks on the current status and future of various issues mentioned above were delivered by party thought leaders including Yogendra Yadav, Meera Sanyal, Adarsh Shastri and independent idealogues like Shri Atul Bhatnagar, COO of the National Skill Development Corporation and Shri Mahesh Murthy, a renowned venture capitalist.
Former Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal concluded the first half of the programme by laying down the slogan for the youth – “Degree, Income, WiFi. Aam Aadmi Party Laayi”.
The following big agenda items were announced:
1.   Higher Education Guarantee Scheme: Students passing out from Delhi schools who wish to pursue any diploma or degree course after class 12, should be given a loan by banks with only one criteria, the securing of admission. The loan should cover their tuition fees as well as the cost of the stay. The loan repayment should have a moratorium for the period of education and one year thereafter. No student will be rejected a loan.
2.   AAP will open 20 new Delhi colleges on the outskirts of Delhi by creating partnerships with our local villages.
According to the National Sample Survey and various other estimates, there are about 3-5 lakh unemployed people in Delhi. However, this estimate is far too low considering the many manifestations of disguised unemployment and underemployment. To make an attempt to crack this issue:
1.   AAP will fill 55,000 immediate vacancies in the Delhi government and the autonomous bodies of GNCT Delhi.
2.  AAP will promote vocational education and skill-development of Delhi's youth in schools and colleges, to bridge the real skill-gap in Delhi. We will create the Delhi Skill Mission that will enable the skilling of 1 lakh/year for the first two years, ramped up to 5 lakh/year for the next three years of an AAP government.
3.   AAP will create an ecosystem to empower private industry to create more jobs and grow at a faster trajectory than the current projections for Delhi job numbers.
4.   The government will help transform invention to innovation by setting up technological incubators in universities and colleges.
5.  AAP will create innovative and private startup accelarators to provide support to entrepreneurs. We will start with providing 3 million square feet as part of the pilot test project.
6.  We will create sports facilities, infrastructure and effective human resource management for athletes, especially from Delhi’s rural and urban villages.
7.  We will utilize and open up Delhi’s sports stadiums and complexes to its youth and also open government school fields and facilities to every child to play.
8.  We will make Delhi a drug-free city
9.  We will make Delhi a wifi-enabled city.
However, the evening did not fade away into oblivion with some expert speeches and political agenda. A wonderful evening of entertainment and comedy was created by Bhagwant Mann, Raghu Ram along with Jasleen, Swaratma and Vimlendu Jha.

Kejriwal Fir Se

So after keeping Delhi in limbo for months the Lieutenet Governor was forced to announce the dissolution of the Delhi assembly(since in the next hearing the court may have ordered the dissolution of the assembly) . Last year in February when the Delhi Janlokpal bill was tabled int he Assembly, BJP and Congress joined hands to stop the bill from getting passed. Arvind Kejriwal had promised earlier that Janlokpal Bill would be passed if AAP came to power and incase they were unable to pass the bill, then all the MLA's of AAP will resign together . What AAP said, AAP did Arvind Kejriwal and all the other 26 MPs resigned .

In Delhi Assembly elections held last year although the single largest party was BJP with 32 seats the first timers Aam Aadmi Party had won 28 seats . The Congress was left with mere 8 seats. The Congress by itself went to LG and announced unconditional support to AAP if it forms the government. So AAP did a public referendum and most people were in favour of AAP forming a government with Congress's support.

The tenure of AAP in Delhi was rather short but it was full of action . In the first few days the electricity rates were halved ,then upto 20000 lts of water was made free per household per month. A call center was started where people could report  if any govt official asked for bribe. Some govt officials were removed when they were found asking for bribes. In fact a TV channel did a sting operation on which some officials some of them asked for bribes . Manish Sisodiya suspended them right then and there.

The Sheila Dixit government of Delhi swindled all the money that was allocated for building Rain Baseras for the homeless especially in the biting Delhi cold. When AAP came to power it was  December and in December - January the night temperatures of Delhi can be as low as 4 or 5 degree celcius. The AAP govt acted briskly immediately arranged for Porta Cabinets and some old unused buses  were used as night shelters for the the homeless.

The fact that the electricity companies were benefiting from tariffs set by the Sheila government can be gauged by the fact that when it was announced that an audit  would be done of the power companies by the CAG, the power companies moved to court to stop the audit. When they failed in high court they moved to supreme court. This shows that there is something wrong and Kejriwal is right when he alleges that the power companies have been benefited by the Sheila Government and they were hands in gloves.

There were reports from friends living in Delhi that the roadside stall owners actually lowered the rate of their services during AAP's tenure, when asked for reason the person said that because of AAP's government the Delhi Police was scared to take bribes and this lead to savings. He decided to pass  it on to the consumers which resulted in him getting more customers. A friend reported that a rickshawalla actually charged less than what he usually charged the reason he gave was because of the AAP government he no longer has to pay the Rs 5000 hafta to police anymore.

A few months ago e-rickshaws was banned by Delhi High Court , this e- rickshaws cannot be made legal till necessary amendment are made in the Motor Vehicles Act. In Delhi over 100,000 people had invested in e-rickshaws. They are from poor families and the livelihoods of their families depend on this. However the government did not show any urgency in amending the motor vehicles act. The result is the e-rickshaw drivers are not able to earn their livelihood. The government is elected by people so that it works for it and improves their standard of life . Unfortunately in India the ignorance of masses have resulted in corrupt and criminal people coming to power. This people rob the nation and leave the masses in poverty.

The nation needs to wake up, Delhi needs to wake and don't let this opportunity go. If Delhiites want to live in a corruption free environment . If the people of Delhi wants a government that is committed to work for their well being. If the people of Delhi want their daughters and sisters  to be safe in the city and if they want an excellent future of their Kids then Delhi must vote for #AAP . Since Modi's BJP govt has continued the loot of the nation, it promised acche din but is doing exactly the opposite.
