Delhi won by AAP

Almost 14 months ago in December 2013 the Delhi Vidhansabha elections gave a hung assembly in which AAP , BJP and Congress got 28,32 and 8 seats respectively. Congress went to the Lt. Governer and announced  unconditional support to AAP for government formation. After doing a public referendum AAP formed the government with support from Congress and Independents.

The government lasted 49 days. In those 49 days tremendous work was done. First the electricity rates were reduced by 50% and a CAG audit of all power companies were ordered. Secondly water a very basic necessity of life was made free for up to 700 lts of usage per household. Corruption came down tremendously during these time and people were happy. Finally the AAP government tabled the Delhi Janlokpal Bill but since AAP did not have enough majority to pass the bill they decided to resign and go back to the people for a fresh mandate. They went to the people to get complete majority and hence be able to pass the Bill.

Immediately after that the LokSabha elections were scheduled and it was thought that the Delhi Assembly Elections will be held alongside with that. But thanks to the Lieutenant Governor and delaying tactics of BJP the Delhi Assembly Elections got deferred. After Loksabha elections AAP had to go to court to get the elections held in Delhi , when the situation was in favour of AAP and it was likely that the court would give an order for dissolution of the Assembly. The LG dissolved the Assembly and ordered fresh elections. So it took an year for the new government to come in place.

In the Loksabha elections people voted for Modi with great hopes but 9 months after the government is formed the performance of Modi has been very bad. He has done nothing for the the people . The people were angry at the arrogance of the BJP government. During election campaign Modi had promised to bring back black money in 100 days . But not even a single step has been taken till now to bring back black money. Modi had promised to an extent that after bringing back black money each Indian would get Rs 15lakh in his bank account. Just a few days before the election Modi's close associate Amit Shah termed it as an election campaign joke.

Worst of all Modi went on a spending spree at the cost of common Indians. He hired a fashion designer for himself and got designer clothes made for himself which should have cost a few lakhs. When Obama visited India we saw him changing his clothes 4 times a day and add to that he wore a suit that was worth Rs 9,29,500 . In India there are millions who go to sleep hungry and this man is spending millions of their money for his clothes. The global oil prices have come down more than 60% but the reduction in diesel and petrol prices have not been proportionate. In fact as I write this down it is announced that from tonight the petrol prices will go up by Rs 2.50.

So people were really angry and wanted a change. Spirited AAP activists worked hard absolutely selflessly going door to door convincing people of AAP's intentions and objectives. The people of Delhi who had already seen AAP's 49 work knew what to do. The elections that were scheduled on 7th February saw a good turnout of 67% plus Delhi voters. All the exit polls pointed towards AAP getting a majority , the average was between 39 to 43 seats. They made fun of Yogendra Yadav's prediction that AAP would get 51(+or- 6) seats.

But on the day of counting all exit polls were proved wrong. Initially it seemed that AAP may get around 46 seats but as the counting rolled on the number of seats kept increasing to 50 then 60 and finally ended up at 67 out of 70 seats. This was absolutely incredible, 53.4% Delhi voters voted for AAP. Congress didn't even open their account and BJP that won 32 seats in the last Assembly elections and all 7 LokSabha seats in 2014 got a mere 3 seats.

It was a day of unbelievable joy as the common man had spoken by the power of his vote "Work for us or get out".  The parties backed by crony corporates have tried all kind of things. Hours after hours of TV news glorified Modi and belittled AAP. Lies after lies after lies were spread against AAP by almost all the TV news channels. The opinion polls in November and December showed BJP getting clear majority. BJP put hording all across the city of Delhi many of the BJP MPs did rallies across Delhi. 48 hours before the elections some BJP candidates tried to distribute money and liquor. One of the consignments was seized and the candidature of one of the candidates was cancelled by the Election Commission.

If that was not enough all the major newspapers across Delhi had a page long advertisement urging voters to vote for BJP , it had large pictures of Modi and Kiran Bedi both on the day of voting and the day before that. Also some AAP volunteers were beaten up, one of the AAP candidates Akhilesh was beaten up while tracking down a consignment of liquor that was distributed  two days before election so much that he had to be admitted to the ICU for a few hours . He is fine now and recovering.

All these efforts by the evil forces was in vain since the voters of Delhi knew what to do on voting day the came out voted for AAP and aap ended up winning the elections with 67 seats out of 70. That means almost 96% of the seats are won by AAP.

Congress shocked, BJP shocked, Paid Media shocked the common man(AAM AADMI ) rocked.

Jai Hind.
